Ready for Vacation
Chuck's last exam is tomorrow and I am very excited for him to have a break for a few weeks. his exams were spread over 2 weeks which makes it seem like they last forever, but it was nice to have a few days in between to get ready for the next one.
We are flying to NC on Monday the 18th and then on to MD the 27th. I am very excited for Leland to see her cousins and for Christmas. She gets so excited when she sees a new toy it's hilarious. A friend of Chuck's mom "borrowed" Leland for her yacht club's Grandkids Christmas party. (She doesn't have any grandkids of her own.) Leland had a lot of fun. Santa came in on a boat it was so great. Of course she was scared to death of Santa when he actually got close to her, but gladly took the present from his helper. It was so great to see the excitment in her eyes as she opened the gift.
Our Ward christmas party was very odd. They didn't mention Christmas or the birth of Christ one time the entire night. They had Hawaiian dancers and food which was good, but it was weird that it wasn't Christmas-y at all. There was also this huge cardboard cut out for you to stick your heads in and take pictures. It was a surfer guy holding this girl in a string bikini and her boobs were bigger than her head. It was so odd to have that at a church function. Our Ward is just weird.
My friend's husband who I worte about a few weeks ago who was diagnosed with cancer past away last week. It is very, very sad. He was 28 years old with two kids 3 and 1. He had just graduated from law school this summer and found out he passed the bar the same day he was diagnosed with cancer. He died just over 2 months after they found the cancer. I am going to the funeral services in AZ this weekend. I've cried so much the past few days at just the thought of losing Chuck. I can't imagine what she is going through.

Your friend reminds me of Tim's brother's story. She had two kids and one on the way when he passed.
It was very hard for them but they are thriving today and their father is still a part of their everyday lives.
As for the Christmas party-uh very weird. You are living in quite an area.
