A little sunshine

Oftentimes, because of all the medications, the lack of restful sleep, and a new enviornment, many of our older patients become delerious during their stay. This morning one of my paitents, an older, well-distinguished gentleman who is pleasantly confused and disoriented called me into his room.

Can I help you?

Well yes, you may. (speaking slowsly and deliberatly with a Carribean accent) I've been trying to do as people tell me to. They tell me to stay out of the sun, so I try to. But I fear I've been out in the sun too long today. And now, now I think I'm having diarrhea.

Lots of news

I finished the book I was reading today and was trying to think of what to read next. thanks for the suggestion Kiki. I'm going to the library on tuesday.

I've been pretty sick. Really tired, nauseas, and a really bad cold/cough. I didn't go to church today and took 2 naps. Hopefully I will be better this week. I was supposed to speak today, but luckily they called me on Friday night and postponed my talk for a few weeks so Chuck could speak with me.

We are going camping this weekend by Las Vegas with Chuck's family. It's a place called Warm Springs and they have natural spring pools that are at a constant 88 degrees. FUN! It's been a while since I've been camping, and I have definitely never gone with a 1 year old and while pregnant. Should be fun.

One of my good friends from MD just told me that her husband has Lymph node cancer and maybe Testicular cancer. She's my age with 2 kids 4 and 1. She now lives is Las Vegas, so I'm going to go visit her in a few weeks. Very sad.

My sister, Suzanne had her baby!!!! Last night her water broke at home. By the time they got to the hospital and she was checked in she was at an 8!! Which means NO epidural. The baby came less than 2 hours later. Emily (their baby) is in the ICU but is improving. She had fluid in her lungs and needed to be on oxygen and has low blood sugar count. Out my sisters and I, Suzanne definitely has the lowest tolerance for pain and discomfort so it is pretty funny that she is the one that had a child naturally. She is doing well and hopefully they will be able to take their girl home soon.

4:16

It's deffinatley fall again, the leaves are starting to chnage, the air is crisp and cool in the mornings. Every day I want to bake something with peras, apples or pumpkin. And the Baltimore marathon was this weekend! Which I sucessfully participated in. I didn't set any personal bests, but I finished with a time of 4:16, one minuite after my goal time. The marathon was uneventful for the most part, no mishaps or drama, just lots of running. My knee hurt, and I kept running, my ankles hurt, and I kept running. Every five miles or so a new ache would pop up, and I would try my best to ignore it. I guess it worked. I missed my awsome cheering squad from two years ago, Johnny was just not quite as enthusiastic. My legs are quite sore today. A few times during my walk this afternoon they gave way under me. I probably looked like one of the drunks on the street!

We've talked about it before, and i think we should start our own reading group! Starting this month. I've taken the liberty of selecting our first book... The Spirit Catches You, and You Fall Down, by Anne Fadiman. I've wanted to read it for over two years now, and took it from my sister when I was home a few weeks ago, and jsut started it today, I think you guys will enjoy it. I've talked to a lot of people who have read it, and they all gave it good reviews.

Liz, when do we get pictures of the new house? Did you get moved in ok?

What are all the kids being for Halloween?

Miss you guys....
